Raksha Bandhan Box Office Day 3: In the presence of #BoycottBollywood, a number of films are not being able to perform well at the box office.
But the problem of Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan is that neither it proved a great entertainer nor it received a good word of mouth from the movie goers.
In such a scenario, it becomes difficult for a film to perform well. And this is what exactly happened with Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan.
Another reason why it underperformed is that Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha was also released on the same day.
But this film almost flopped. Out of a total budget of Rs 180 crore, the film could only managed to collect 12 crore in the first two days.
On the other hand Raksha Bandhan also received the same fate. The audience didn't like the film at all. Due to this, the film's collection is falling as the days are progressing.
Raksha Bandhan box office collection of 3 days remained almost 21 crore which is far less as per the expectations of the makers. It was made on a massive budget of 80 crore.
The reason why Raksha Bandhan fared badly at the box office is not only because it had to face a stiff competition with Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha but also because there was no good word of mouth from movie goers.
A good word of mouth works well even after several weeks or months of a film’s release.
It has been observed that even a bad film shows a good collection for initial one or two days of opening mainly because of the star power.
But after that it all depends on the film’s merit and the good word of mouth which was lacking in Raksha Bandhan.
